Get to know your tools!

I have talked about how important it is for athletes to not under-eat. It might be hard at first to actually realize how much food you need. What should you do once you know your numbers for what macros and calories you need that work best for your energy levels? You should begin to "track" or get an idea of what you're eating. Our goal for tracking our meals is to make sure you are getting enough of what you need.

An app I recommend for this is myfitnesspal. In this app you can easily put in your ingredients and meals. Then according to the serving you consume the app will tell you how many calories, grams of protein, fat, and carbohydrates you consumed during that meal. Myfitnesspal even will tell you if a certain food or snack you plug in is "high protein content" or a "low unsaturated food".

Myfitness pal is very easy to use and actually has some cool features when you can just scan the barcode of the wrapper or box of whatever ingredient you are using. The app also saves previous foods you have tracked. So the longer/more you track the easier it will become since your common foods gets saved.
